Quiapo Optical District: Street Guide for Trade Buyers

Everything an optical buyer needs is within a few blocks of Carriedo LRT station. Here is how the streets fit together and who is on each one.

Getting there

Take LRT Line 1 to Carriedo station. Exit toward Plaza Miranda and Quiapo Church. P. Paterno Street runs parallel to Carriedo Street one block north, and Sales Street crosses it. If you are driving, park at one of the pay lots near Quiapo Church and walk; the optical streets are narrow and often closed to cars.

Sales Street

Home to TKR Optics at number 445, the district's main wholesale-only distributor. Purple sign, roller shutters, open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM. This is the stop for stock lenses, frames and accessories in volume, and for anyone who wants their order shipped rather than carried home.

P. Paterno Street

The densest stretch of optical suppliers in Manila. Walking east from the Carriedo end you pass Reshma Optical Supply at 628, RSA Optical Supplies at 631 and JSM Optical at 650, plus a dozen smaller frame and accessory stalls. JSM is the one to visit for equipment.

Estero Cegado Street

A short street off Carriedo with a mix of retail and small-order optical shops, including Helens Optical Shop at 422. Useful for seeing how Quiapo retailers price and display, less so for bulk buying.

A half-day buying route

8:00 AM Start at TKR Optics on Sales St while stock is full. Place the lens and frame order; arrange pickup or shipping.
9:30 AM Walk one block to P. Paterno St. Check JSM Optical for equipment and RSA for budget frames.
11:00 AM Top up accessories at Reshma, then loop back via Estero Cegado to compare retail pricing.
Noon Done before the afternoon heat and the Quiapo Church crowd.

Tips

Carry your PRC licence or business permit. Wholesale distributors will ask on a first order.
Bring some cash for the smaller stalls, and ask each supplier how they take payment.
Fridays are busy with Quiapo Church devotees. Tuesday to Thursday mornings are quietest.
If you cannot visit, TKR Optics takes orders by Messenger and phone and ships them.
